PHI PHI O'HARA'S 365 DAYS OF DRAG

We may remember the beautiful Phi Phi O'Hara from season 4 of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Specifically, the iconic dispute between her and fellow contestant Sharon Needles, in which she was described as a "tired ass showgirl". Since the show, Phi Phi has consistently contradicted this label by pulling out show-stopping looks and performances. Her drag has reached new and heightened levels and broken concepts and boundaries as to what drag is.
Phi Phi’s most recent endeavour will make you admire her even more, with her new project 365 Days of Drag. The title being pretty self-explanatory, Phi Phi will be pulling out a fresh, draw dropping new look every day for the next year.
Phi Phi launched this project at the start of this year, and announced to her social media following:
So excited for this project! Everyday a new look! It is a huge project but I am excited to see it coming to life, I have done all the costumes, hair, makeup, even photography. Come back everyday to see what fun look I have done that day. Never stop pushing yourself to the limit! #TheYearOfPheefs!
It truly is already the year of Pheefs. In only the first month, Phi Phi is showing versatility and flexibility in her art as she posts her latest looks on her instagram. This ambitious and admirable venture ranges from 90s cartoons characters, intergalactic aliens and even an appearance from a small My Little Pony series. The variety in original, innovative and imaginative creations really emphasises Phi Phi’s evolution and development since her appearance on Rupaul’s Drag Race.
Unusual concepts are not the only element this fierce queen is using in her work. Unconventional components and items feature in some of Phi Phi’s creations. In one of her first posts, she has used thumb tacks as a type of face accessory, as well as raiding thrift stores and dollar shops in search of alternative materials to add an edge to her concepts. Phi Phi also explains that drag does not have to be expensive, and tells her followers she frequently buys from local charity stores such as Salvation Army. Here are a few of our favourite looks so far:

Not only is this project a challenge for herself and unlimited possibilities of drag, it also encourages young artists/aspiring drag queens to pursue art and concepts. I also enjoy the sense of anticipation each day as I return to Phi Phi's instagram to see what new wild and awe inspiring idea she has executed, and I am never disappointed. I, along with many others, am eager to see where this year will take Phi Phi O'Hara.
