Any of you fabulous creatures that have ever considered doing drag know; the importance of the look, the skills, and the overall effort that goes into this kick-ass craft. As important as those things are, we all know that it’s the name that’s incredibly important. After all, your name can be very telling; and is essentially who’ll you become.
Honestly, there’s only one rule: Pick whatever name you want! Just take a few things into consideration. For some it might be easier to pick a name that best reflects their personality. Are you a raunchy bad mother-shut-your-mouth? Then something like Alotta Fish or Miss Lips might be a fit for you! Are you artsy to the Gods? Oral Pastel might be in your artistic vision! For you potential raunchy queens; it's okay to be pure dirrrty, like if you want to called Miss Phallic Cunt Supreme. go for it! Just be aware that shock value is important, but be sure not to go overboard. Yes, folks; even drag has its limits. Fight me if you disagree. For the more traditional hopefuls; you might consider something along the lines of Brittany Lee Davis, Michelle Dubois or Betty Baker. Simplicity is key. I've always enjoyed queens that can take bland and safe names and make them fun and edgy. The main goal is to bring life to stereotypical “boring names” and make them memorable. There’s nothing wrong with being lighthearted; in my opinion, we can use more of these queens. Bonus points to anyone that can revitalize the names Ethel, Mildred or Yunis. Yunis is valued at infinite points.
Some of you might be more eleganza extravaganza! Or elegant for those who just think I made that phrase up. For names like this, you can easily place the words Madam (mademoiselle if ya fancy), Lady or Miss in front of a more traditional name. Lady Betty Baker case and point. Here’s a chance for you to go big or go home! Maybe try Madam Cherie Cherry, Rochelle Magnific, or Lady Boxington. The more dramatic and elegant the better. Hell, even big word can work here, Amphisbaena and Ailurophile would be perfect elegant names (see what I did there?).
And to those who weren't gifted with creativity; you can always look to other queens for inspiration. I can't tell you how many Thunderfvcks there are now. Honestly, I would recommend avoiding this at all cost. There’s nothing wrong with paying homage, but you should aim to come into your own and stand out. Why imitate someone else when the name Ailurophile has yet to be taken?
