With the Annual Eurovision Song Contest taking place tomorrow in Stockholm following Måns Zelmerlöw's incredible win for Sweden last year, we take a look at some of unusual facts associated with the iconic European institution.
1. In 1981, UK entry Bucks Fizz stunned viewers with their Velcro rip-away skirts and within 48 hours, Velcro had completely sold out all across the country.

2. In 1978, Jordanian TV showed some flowers instead of the Israeli entry. And when Israel won, Jordan pretended it was Belgium who had instead. Mature.
3. In 1981, Italy boycotted the contest saying it was “too old-fashioned.” That’s Italy - renowned for being home to new and fashionable music.
4. When Ukrainian singer Ruslana won Eurovision in 2004 with 'Wild Dances', she was rewarded with a seat in Parliament.
5. In 1983 the Turkish Eurovision entry Opera (performed by Çetin Alp & The Short Waves) consisted entirely of the word "Opera" being repeated over and over. It recieved no points.
