WHO'S WEARING WHAT: Daniel Lismore - Costume Meets Couture

Recently interviewed by Vogue.com, British artist and fashion visionary Daniel Lismore has had quite the start to 2016. The 31-year old creator reigning from East London recently opened his new exhibition at SCAD FASH in Atlanta entitled: “Be Yourself; Everyone Else is Already Taken”, after the famous quote by writer Oscar Wilde.

The exhibition features 30 flamboyant outfits curated by Lismore, and each one is the perfect combination of couture and costume. Bold patterns, billowing layers, and piles of glittering accessories are common counterparts in Daniel’s ensembles, as are tribal nuances and historical references, as seen through his use of chain link and metal armor. Gaudily beautiful headpieces adorned like crowns represent the aura of unique royalty that is present in Lismore’s work, and a brilliant use of colors, textures, and dimension work together to create his unique vision of individuality.

Aside from being a major name in the London nightlife scene, Lismore is the creative director of Sorapol, a UK based label whose gowns have been worn by celebrities such as Paloma Faith, Azealia Banks, Kylie Minogue, Debbie Harry, Cara Delevingne, and Nicki Minaj, and he was the face of H&M’s “Close the Loop” campaign supporting the idea of eco-friendly, sustainable fashion. He’s modeled for prestigious publications such as Vogue UK, i-D Magazine, and L’Uomo Vogue, and has worked with George Michael and Boy George for various music videos. Lismore and his work breathe an air of creativity, individuality, and pride that comes along with not swimming with the stream. Catch Daniel in the feature film “Styled to Rock” coming out this year, and if you happen to find yourself in Atlanta from now through April 1st, stop by SCAD FASH to admire his work.
