I first heard the musical stylings of Gruff Rhys at the Hay On Wye Festival in 2014. My only knowledge of his work was his position in the band the Super Furry Animals, however his solo career is equally unique, wild and ironic.
His performance of his album "American Interior" took us through his musical voyage across America, following in the footsteps of his 18th century relative, John Evans. Both adventurers were looking for one thing: a native welsh-speaking tribe. Accompanying him on his "Investigative Concert Tour" is the three foot high felt recreation of John Evans. To fully understand and appreciate this wild journey, you can buy the DVD here.
So, my pick for this week's audiophelle is Lost Tribes, which features in his fantastical odyssey.
